Classic musical comedy, set in the late-1800s South, finds pacifist Tom Grayson (Bing Crosby) rejected by his fiancée's family after refusing to take part in a duel. Riverboat captain Commodore Jackson (W.C. Fields) hires Grayson as a performer and, after an altercation with a man who accidentally shoots himself-bills the crooner as "the Singing Killer" to boost business. Songs by Rodgers and Hart include "Down by the River," "Soon," and "Easy to Remember."
